If Only...

If Only...

A Poem by Frieda P
"

daydreaming whimsy

"
If only,
petals of poppies should really dance on zephyrs glances
and peonies twirl polka dot dresses on high
butterflies sing lullaby's of purple essence song
waterfalls would spray bliss while humming in tune
secret gardens would hold the power of the universe in tiny buds
spilling forth the wonders of the world in wee dew drops from above
if only the starlight in your eyes of the dance of romantic
whimsy were real horizons & the dream I dream of you could come true
I could die if only to live my life in this kismet

if only...*sigh*

If only, well who's to say they can't...those dreams, those fantasies, those heart shaped wishes can't come true. I for one say they can, if we just do not give up, keep pulling that lasso in a little bit closer each day. I am a believer that "if only" means "it will", if it is something I really want. Frieda, your charm and your heart always show through in the beauty of your words. This was gorgeous, as is the poet. Very nice my friend.

Well done, Frieda. Although, I do try to avoid my "if only" moments... they tend to make me feel a bit weak. lol

Very blissful thoughts... it is the hope that these things can one day exist that helps us strive on in this crazy world.

Yes, b ut crazy helps keep us somewhat sane.
"If only" can sometimes be the best friend a writer has. This is a lovely waltz around your fanciful ethereal wonderland; but behind (or between) the lines I think I hear that there are many other versions of "if only." And the other versions may not be quite so whimsical or romantic. But recognizing the "if only" and putting it into the proper context is the sign of a healthy spirit. I am what is known as a "difficult" or "high maintenance" woman. I do a lot of "if only"s, and occasionally make the leap to hardcore "do over"s. "If only"s are exquisite music, like the pipes the Incas play in the Andes, whereas my "do over" is the theme from "Jaws" and me tapping my foot at the pearly gates, armed with my trusty sledge hammer. I love that visualization. But your visualization of your "if only" is much lovelier, more intimate and more poignant than mine. Brava.

Thanks Brandon, always a lovely review from you.
I have a feeling that there are 2 parts to this tale. One that ends with wishful thinking while the other finds something it has never expected

A very whimsical write Frieda but as always sublime in its dancing ethereal metaphors. Have you listened to Anita Harris Sing 'Dream a little Dream'?

Yes, something about the way Mama Cass sings it though, always wins me over, thanks John.
Flowers and waterfalls... secret gardens holding the Universe's power.... A lovely dream. if only... reminds me of that line from "Willie Wonka" 'We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.' :)
