~One Last Sigh

~One Last Sigh

A Poem by Frieda P

You dimmed the splendor,
         turned down the sunlight
i waited for a breathless moon
                   of starry skies to escape
your golden key had me locked away from eternity
satin sheets could not recover what was lost
one last dance around the mezzanine of obscurity
one last sigh til the whispers
                                  of recognition die out,
                 on a pillow sleek
                  of aloof cavalier haunting

This reached out and grabbed me. I found myself lost in your words and with tears welling up, I came to the point where I couldn't see. Shadows were staring at me with black eyes and I felt the ground beneath my feet soften in an attempt to swallow me into this sorrow. When all seemed lost I heard something, I listened intently and found it was the faint remnants of your heart beat. I made my way towards the sound, following it as it grew louder and then I saw the light...it was your smile. I found my way out...but will probably dive back in once again. I never could resist your poetry.

Your review is better than my piece here Jack, thanks for your thoughts.

Another eloquent piece of poetry. Full of unwashed emotion. It feels a little like unrequited love but maybe I am wrong?

In the end yes, thanks John.
I love the Frieda style, dear, you always knock me down, with your words... :) so pleased to read you. The song you put along with it, I so remember. I have my personal memories on it. As music always gives us.

To not be able to reach that one you love, on any matter, or on that precious moment, of time... is harsh, it's bad, it's hurtful, it's felt here, so beautifully expressed Frie, love your style, always, big Sis! learn much from you! xo :) and hug!

Grazie mille
I cant figure this, theres a deeper thing here besides "longing". Its the your golden key line, it says "from" not for. Meaning it was not a choice on your part. To me this a poem of hurt caused by someones actions. That eternal bond was ripped away, without any concern or notion of the grief it leaves behind. Thats how I read it Frieda. The emotions come through intensly. Your writing is excellent.

Excellent write... saddening, but so very well done. The emotion you poured into such a brief piece is amazing.

You're too kind poetic heroics, thanks so much.
Don't patronise me, I can't make you love me if you don't...Bonnie says it all. You know how to get it down, Frieda. So well. Angi~

Awh thanks Angi, she definitely gets it right...
Bonnie Raitt is one of my favorite singers...and that song...sigh...

This poem moved me...the lines are filled with sadness. A desperate finality. I've been there in that moment where you realize its over but you just want to hold onto whatevers left. However fleeting it might be... x

She's great, isn't she? I think I played this song a million times after the break up, thanks so mu.. read more
not sure if the golden key would be taken as a good thing or a bad thing...either being happy to be locked in someone's heart...or feeling trapped....seems much was lost here besides freedom...or i may be out in left field...but then i have a pretty good mitt, just in case.
the "cavalier hunting" made me think of someone who is pretty arrogant, and quite selfish..but then, that is how i read it...

at any rate...your imagery is always so powerful.
