~One Last Sigh

~One Last Sigh

A Poem by Frieda P

You dimmed the splendor,
         turned down the sunlight
i waited for a breathless moon
                   of starry skies to escape
your golden key had me locked away from eternity
satin sheets could not recover what was lost
one last dance around the mezzanine of obscurity
one last sigh til the whispers
                                  of recognition die out,
                 on a pillow sleek
                  of aloof cavalier haunting

This reached out and grabbed me. I found myself lost in your words and with tears welling up, I came to the point where I couldn't see. Shadows were staring at me with black eyes and I felt the ground beneath my feet soften in an attempt to swallow me into this sorrow. When all seemed lost I heard something, I listened intently and found it was the faint remnants of your heart beat. I made my way towards the sound, following it as it grew louder and then I saw the light...it was your smile. I found my way out...but will probably dive back in once again. I never could resist your poetry.

Your review is better than my piece here Jack, thanks for your thoughts.

There is such fatalism in your words. One last dance leading to one last sigh leaves the reader breathless.

Truly amazing, made me teary eyed, you can grasp emotions in your poetry like no one else I've read.

Reminded me if a break up I had years ago, where we both knew it was over but couldn't say the words. Sleeping next to someone knowing its over. That's what I took from this. Enjoyable poetry as always Frieda.

Reminiscing with a ghost... The concept frightens me, as I seriously doubt I could withstand the emotional trauma.. Brushing this piece was enough, I don't think I could bear actually doing so..

I like this one. The music really flows with it. Capturing that feeling of wanting surrender even through you know the magic is lost. Its a horrible feeling, the longing, the need. But you captured the moment well.

This is so simple and elegant. I love it. I love the imagery it conjures and the quiet feeling of being locked up in thought in the dark, thinking on love. Many of us have been there. Also, I love the song you put in your author's notes. That is a great one!
