~Passing Shadows

~Passing Shadows

A Poem by Frieda P

I remember you,
  you stole my breath away
           and never gave it back
your imprint lingers
on my soul like a wafting tattoo
silly notions come to mind,
your  piercing eyes that held me like hot fiery coals
the way you used to weave your fingers through my hair & tug gently,
you held my face and traced my lips
with your fingertips in a figure eight for infinity
your musky scent in the middle of the night
when you woke frisky in the mood
the way you said my name,
made it sound like no other had ever spoken it before
I've not heard it quite the same way since
you were gone in an instant and all that is left,
an intoxicating trance of you upon my heart
sometimes in the middle of a still night, I think I hear you call to me
                  but it's merely a wisp of a flutter floating~
passing  through me as a sweet shadow of reminiscence

the way you said my name,

I've not heard it quite the same way since

Sometimes its the beautiful, deep and different words you use that I gravitate to. And sometimes its the simple statement that just blows me away. Amazing how your name sounds when some one you love speaks it...

This is a wonderful write Frieda. Whenever we lost someone we love so dearly, we tend to see and feel them around us.

Glad you enjoyed it gabriells, thanks.
Memories are what we need when we are old and gray. I enjoyed the journey you took me on in the poem. Reminiscencing is what make the old man smile when waiting for no-one. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
