Whatever Whimsy

Whatever Whimsy

A Poem by Frieda P

I work on pins and pistons, pull the lever watch me react
drop a quarter in the slot to see me move at rapid speeds
slow me down by snapping my crown in reverse
there is madness to this method, foul scream to play
pulleys and toxic ads motivate my every cry and smile
i can be your worst nightmare or your playmate
you choose your poison and I'll host your party
coffee, tea or a quirky bamboozlement that suits you
press Enter or do not pass go, you'll collect more
than you'd ever imagine possible on this mystery tour
i never die or cease to pleasure, plug me in
watch me perform and take the ultimate treasure
i'm your unrequited censors prize pressure for life

Its interesting, I thought I had it figured out and then the words shifted and the image I had in my head changed. So the title is perfect! Whatever Whimsy... And when I read that it was a picture prompt it all made sense :)

I think its well done. Lot of creativity went into this.

I'm thrilled you took it there Kristin, were you in my head?

I am reminded of one of those carnival machines in which you get your fortune read (like in the movie Big). That "genie" was pretty creepy, and I could see some of these lines coming out of his painted mouth: "you'll collect more than you'd ever imagine possible on this mystery tour.. bwah ha ha!" Ok, so I am sure there is a more profound purpose here, but this is where this write took me. :)

Whatever do you mean Rita? ;-)
I admit to being tossed around a bit in your madness, but after seeing the inspiration, it is only fitting. Keys of every shape are needed to open the doors that that man has peered into. Thanks for the introduction. Well done.

P.S. Should you be interested, here is a link to a friend of mines art that is ever so inspiring, whimsical, frighteningly strange at times but always interesting. *He's quite fond of clowns* http://pascalleocormier.com/home.html

I must admit also that clowns scare me too.. *shivers*
as carly sang..."whoever you want is exactly who i'm more than willing to be"

i'll be your contradiction to suit your mood..

and maybe that is a good thing...if this person is saying "i love you enough to be whatever you want me to be"

or a bad thing...a lament..saying "you just use me to suit you, and i am tired of being robotic..bye bye."

Love when someone associates music with my writing, thanks jacob, now I have to listen to Carly.
I felt a little lost in this one, not going to lie...I was all over the place and couldn't really find a hand hold. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, I did...I think I might need to revisit once cocktail hour is in full swing ;-)

lol well written Frieda the way one may subject themselves to the whims and fancies of another harmful or not. The poem itself was cool the choice of words was spot on you have a knack for expressing yourself efficiently

So thrilled you enjoyed my madness Deron...nice to see you again.
Wow, before I looked at the photo, my mind was picturing a magic fingers bed...and I don't have any change. Damn.

Definitely whimsical my friend and somewhat inviting.

"i can be your worst nightmare or your playmate" Can you be both? :) That would be scary fun.

We can look at a painting and say, "That's a Monet" or "That's a Picasso" just as we look at any of your poems and say, "That's a Frieda" Definitely you and definitely good. Very nice my friend.

Okay that tickled, 'a magic fingers bed'....ha. You're too kind Jack....
This is an intriguing write, it's quite interesting too. You tell us how some people live their lives these days, haha, am I right? It's an interesting write, I loved the structure and the wording.

"I work on pins and pistons, pull the lever watch me react
drop a quarter in the slot to see me move at rapid speeds
slow me down by snapping my crown in reverse"

Loved these lines! :) Well done!

Don't be messin' with the kimmer noodlebumble, you know you'll lose this fight. ;-)
This is quite interesting as a commentary on how a lot of people live their lives these days, I think. It seems to represent the reactive responses to the diverse proxy experiences available now from media, technology, art even. There is a confusion, a glut, an oversufficiency.....I`m waffling, I know. It has started my wheels grinding! P.
