Whatever Whimsy

Whatever Whimsy

A Poem by Frieda P

I work on pins and pistons, pull the lever watch me react
drop a quarter in the slot to see me move at rapid speeds
slow me down by snapping my crown in reverse
there is madness to this method, foul scream to play
pulleys and toxic ads motivate my every cry and smile
i can be your worst nightmare or your playmate
you choose your poison and I'll host your party
coffee, tea or a quirky bamboozlement that suits you
press Enter or do not pass go, you'll collect more
than you'd ever imagine possible on this mystery tour
i never die or cease to pleasure, plug me in
watch me perform and take the ultimate treasure
i'm your unrequited censors prize pressure for life

Its interesting, I thought I had it figured out and then the words shifted and the image I had in my head changed. So the title is perfect! Whatever Whimsy... And when I read that it was a picture prompt it all made sense :)

I think its well done. Lot of creativity went into this.

Found myself dabbling in the whimsical thoughts of this piece.. drinking in the spirits of this unique write I am pleased to find my cheeks rise to the celebration of these words. I find the lady in your poems a very confident, sexy, almost seductively elegant, manipulating me in ways that I seem to enjoy and she captures me, never failing to do so.. she has me by the mind, be it in my head or in my pants.

Wonderful job of whimsy here, Frieda. I got the sense that this machine messes with the mind quite a bit. I love the monopoly reference and the twist on it, and the Beatles reference as well. Wonderful job.

A classic piece that puzzles the reader, one I may have to return to and reread, clever girl!

Ha trying to figure out my head is quite the puzzle, thanks Thomas.
Do you know what this reminds me of? The influence of the media on the psyche. (no i have not been drinking the bong water. I don't even own a bong.) Especially right here in the middle:

there is madness to this method, foul scream to play
pulleys and toxic ads motivate my every cry and smile
i can be your worst nightmare or your playmate
you choose your poison and I'll host your party
coffee, tea or a quirky bamboozlement that suits you

its a fantastical poem. Well done.

I can't say I ever thought I'd read quirky bamboozlement in a Frieda poem :P It's a great piece though, a different side of you, and pretty wide-open for interpretation as well...you don't wanna know the interpretations I'm making...;P

This impresses me no end. What is done really well is the way the way you describe the machine fits perfectly to the subject, a very fast poem that almost physically portrays the subject, the way you reduce punctuation gives this speed and energy. A fine poem

I was expecting an Alice in Wonderland episode-like poem here, but I guess I was somewhat wrong. Still, I enjoyed the portrayal of yourself as an entertainment machine.

You have any idea how much I abhor being predictable Tai, :-) thanks....
This passed out of your mouth, written on a small card. Then you stopped working again.
Scary and multilayered Frieda. Shivers down spine job.

Good night Freida.
Well I think Freud would have a field day with this, or a brain aneurism, good to see that I am not the only one with a twisted view on everyday life. Love this.
