~The Taste of Death...

~The Taste of Death...

A Poem by Frieda P
"

questionable mysteries of death

"
What does death taste like,
          is it bittersweet or acerbic
does the scent jolt one
                   to senseless abandon
is the feel of floating
                on zephyr's eternally blissful
what does one see
           when faced with death's eyes
do angels beckon us
to join the alluring alliance of souls
a clarion sound of heaven's harmony
                             to peaceful sleep

or will the devil come a knockin'
                           with hell's bells last call
perhaps we merely become infinitesimal flecks
               endlessly ephemeral,         flitting
within pure grandness of the megacosm

This is such a beautifully constructed poem. Love the flow. You present your readers with some searching questions. I used to wrestle with these questions all the time.. so often I would drive myself insane from it. I finally resolved that death was a natural cycle of rebirth, and left it at that. Great job!

i sure miss you Frieda! this poem floated across my roving eye .. here at the Cafe' .. you have been gone so long .. and this poem of yours is almost 12 yrs. since it's posting .. i don't think you will see this "review" .. but i had to come to read as i saw that i had not seen it ... wishing you the best .. the question of death is a big one .. it takes little Faith to answer it or a whole lot of wondering, maybe anxiety and fear, maybe denial .. one thing is sure .. as we all know it will come for us all .. love and peace my dear old friend

Grazie mille :-)
Death is a really intriguing topic, because it is the other side of life, you won't want me started about death because I'm a student of mysticism. A truly thought provoking and beautifully done poem. Well done.

Thanks Zahra, I guess that'd be a whole other poem there.
I find my belief to how death feels is exactly how we felt before we were born of the womb. Do you not remember it? Exactly.
Enticing, morbid, and just at the brink of the concepts I so lovingly enjoy.

Thanks for the visit and review Khaled.
The guarded elegance within the wording lends to mask the punch one feels while reading this piece, well done, good read.

Hmm, 'guarded elegance' I like that one Thomas, thank you kindly.
