Well...that was strong. Here we are later in life...more aware, more experienced. At times I will find myself right back in her arms with a second chance...say the right thing, do the right thing...but I am only a phantom watching from here knowing what I might or should have done.
At least that was what came to mind reading your wonderful poem.
Actually this is my Favorite one of yours Frieda, you have pumped out somefabulous poems but this one is my fav. from you so far it has the perfect mixture of beauty and doom, lol, seriously though.
You have stolen my breath and blown me away. (Cliché...but necessary..) This, being the first thing I've ever read from you, is stunning. I'm not much a poet--nor am I a very good poetry reviewer--so when I interpret a poem the writer is often shocked at what I come up with, because more times than not I am miles off. Sorry about that, I do try my hardest.
Here, I didn't really see a storyline of much, but that's not needed in poems(unless it's storytelling/epic poetry...duh). Rather I saw a stream of abstract yet exquisite images flash before my eyes that told a story in their own language. I didn't really read your message, rather I felt it. And I think that's the goal of most poets. (So...kudos to you.) I can feel the heartbreak of hoping for something, then having it wrenched away while it was inches from your fingers. Magnificent.
The only trouble I had was in the second stanza. I just had a hard time transitioning from the first line to the second. The last line there is great, though. I don't get too picky with grammar/punctuation in poetry, so I'll just briefly say that your grammar is superb(which is rare in this day and age).
We go on but the bad memories linger. It reminds me of looking at an old photo album with sad regret because those happier times will never return. Beautiful and haunting sweet friend. xo
I read this the other day and felt inadequate (unable) at the time for a review due to a recent conversation that left me perplexed and deep in thought. this touched a nerve from that conversation. It is palpable, my friend. Well done.

If you felt anything in reading my words I am content, thanks so much Sera, hope all is well.
Putting bad memories to rest without being at peace with them. Wonderfully penned. The foul smell of pain and regret is emitted through this awesome piece.
had to bring up the "shirt" again didn't you...you knew i would read this..
but seriously this is a beautiful poem..."the rustling of shattered tears" love that line..
old loves' memories...should have eulogies...i agree...did you mean "sieze to breathe" or "cease to breathe" thought you might have meant the latter..
great ending.."herein lies the living dead" we feel like walking dead after failed relationships...instead of yelling "brains" we are zombies walking around yelling "love"
i think heartache might have a sound..
i am so glad you are back...and we get to read you again.

If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
