~Be Still My Heart~

~Be Still My Heart~

A Poem by Frieda P

There is a stillness in poetry's posey

nourishes my soul and elevates my senses

takes me places I've only dreamt

I pause in it's quietude    serene     listening

to the rhymes in the stanzas of ballads

lullabies that melodiously float in mid air

Transports me on a magical quiescent carpet ride

        sonnets of pure unadulterated posies

moments that set the world scintillatingly radiant

I could stay awake all night bathing in this light

consummated in sublime silken baubles of conception

awash in this silent world of suspended animation

Another radiant write from you which elevates the senses as you say and touches the instruments of the hearts...
A new day and a new refreshing poetry...:)

:-)
Many writings can transport us to another place, time, or emotion. To languish in the melody of sonnets and musical scores of rhyme and meter - blissful at times. A freedom to release ourselves from reality. So beautifully expressed, Frieda! And I am so happy to see you back :)

Awh thanks Sera, you know I couldn't stay away for long... :-)
I have sat many a night (oblivious to the clock) reading, breathing the words in. Lovely flow to this, Frieda!

Always need a dose of the doctor a day.
Poetry-induced insomnia - the best kind. Love the idea of the carpet ride - poetry takes us gliding from one place to the next; it is indeed enchanting. This is a great tribute to your Art, Frieda.

Hmmm Rita, I wonder which came first, the poetry or the insomnia?
Beautiful and sensitive poetry my friend. I like the journey into good thoughts. I had to read again for the good visions create by the good description. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Thanks John, always appreciate your visit.
This reminds me of my college days when I would stay up all night flipping through books of poetry, searching for inspiration. Those poems never failed to take me on adventures I could only dream about. Your poem is outstanding, well written with a great flow. Beautiful ride!

Thanks so much for this glowing review Lori!
This is a great description for how I personally feel about poetry. I have to watch myself when I'm reading or I could just go on all night as if time had not meaning or sway. You always have a talent for penning the sublime and taking me to places within myself.

I love the imagery in this; it is quiet and settling. I also love the wording, phrasing and wordplay, which bring together the overall emotion of this write. Well done, my friend.

Exactly what poetry does to me too Friday, so happy you felt that way about this piece.
I absolutely adore the gentleness of this piece...a gentle piece from the fiery Mrs.R, who'd have thunk it? ;D Honestly though, I can wholeheartedly relate to this...that ability to get lost in "poetry's poesy"...there's just something therapeutic about this poem that makes me wanna pull out a book at random and start reading...well maybe not random, I do have my mood to consider, but it's downpouring here today so all bets are off ;P
