Blood Poisoning

Blood Poisoning

A Poem by Frieda P

Somewhere in my blood there is poison
a curse that was infused at conception
this snake has reared its ugly head
acting as if a terminal illness
wrapped itself around my soul
         molded and shaped my world
sins of the father's putrefied covenant
why should the petal be accursed
written in crimson scriptures
         evidence pervades in my positure
instilled beliefs a daily threat
carried the weight upon vestal shoulders
humiliation & shame a constant reminder
the source remains my doctrine of order
legend of the fall, epic sad sagas of history

written in the tainted stain of patrimony
~never to be passed down through the ages

Every line speaks of the dark inheritance left to abuse survivors. You bare it here with force but also vulnerability. The first and last lines are a clear statement. The poison in your blood will not be passed on. Thank you sweet friend for sharing this despite that shame you feel. How hard that must be.. hugs!! X

Thanks Mehak.
Harsh write...brutal, in fact. I always read these visceral pieces you write with a sneer on my face...always the sneer...not for you, of course, you know that *laugh* Holy cats, imagine someone who doesn't know us reading that and then starting a flame war with me because I said I was sneering at Frieda P's writing xD This fooking place ;-)

Anyway...

*sneer*

This is exceptional work.

These chains ever so tightly wrapped around your nightmares, poison flows in your mind and will not abate, life is not what it was meant to be. These scars are endless and the pain constant. When you write Frieda, we feel. Sometimes we feel good and sometimes we feel pain, your pain. If only I could find the words to lift this pain from you, if it took my last breath, I would write that poem

Thanks Jack, much appreciate your kindness, it was a tough write, but cathartic in many ways....
