Tethered Darkly

Tethered Darkly

A Poem by Frieda P

crush me with a morning sunsmile
tipsy on the perfume of mushroom wine
disrobe your heart to sophomoric cries
lessons learned from naked souls
convoluted with screams for clemency
softly sways the voice of discernment
tethered to the teetered backlash,
pivoting on a quiver of echoed bumbles
of spasm'd arrows flung in poison offense
lip service on silver platters hold no purpose
rephrase the resplendence forgotten
sans promise, enchantment falls on fire

I love the imagery and the wording here-- "tipsy on the perfume of mushroom wine" and "convoluted with screams for clemency". There is pleasure here, but also pain...and I get the sense that this is a bit of a love unrequited piece. Pleasure is not as beautiful "sans promise"; I enjoyed this feel. Well done, as always.

Sensing a lot of disappointment under the surface of this one. I don't know how you come up with these lines but I love it! Had to reread a few times just to let it roll around on my tongue. ;-)
