"I blinked and you were gone
secrets destroy more than one..."
Nice poem, Ms. F.
For me, it depends upon the secret to be shared. If it is about yourself, I'm going to listen because you just want to make your burden lighter. But if it is about someone's story, I will be gone in a blink of your eye because it is gossip. Lol :)

I like, above all, a piece that leads me from one line, one stanza to the next without me needing a leap of faith that the next will be there . . . this piece and other, longer pieces you've written has done that. I also like well done emotion. This accomplished that also. The picture actually makes it a much longer, though sparsely worded (simple) piece, than you actually see on the page . . . and that's also a sign of excellence, and skillful use of the readers vulnerabilities (emotions, expectations, wants, needs).
Simple. Simple has nothing to do with this piece, my friend. Maybe to you the writer, but there's so much depth in the piece that we as writers sometimes don't see, but as readers, of another's "simple" work, do.
Simple --- not this piece, my friend.
enjoy you...

Your simplicity says it all here, Frieda. Secrets can destroy the one who holds them, the one who keeps them and the one who never hears them. Well penned.

You got it in one, exactly Rita, thanks so much for your thoughts here.
Frieda, I'm glad you posted this poignant piece. It relates to Sami's latest poem "Elephants in Secret Rooms". Nothing weighs on us so heavily as a secret.” Jean De La Fontaine
That dang Sami was in my room again?! I meant, thanks so much Jean....

If you want to know me, read my poetry, it's all in there. I am a mother of three sons (my finest moments) a sister, a survivor and a little bit crazy. I lost my beloved sister to suicide, so you'll.. more..
