BLEURGH

BLEURGH

A Poem by Frieda P
"

aka Broken Spirit

"
The feeling when you can't breathe,
or perhaps you just don't want to...
the gnashing of the soul...
it's raw to the bone, ripping the lifeforce into shreds
it gnaws its way into the psyche, perplexed
asking questions with no answers
it grates and crushes, until the mind is just a grind
broken, fallen down in crevices between pain and regret
half dead, half alive in festering remorse, false hope
a mere whisper of a spirit remains
the ghost of you haunts me...
is it an aberration or finely designed
I  feel I'm going insane, yet I never want it to stop

A small part of us does remain in the lives of loved ones. What it is i can't say...maybe energy...maybe ghost...maybe angelic host. While we assume this should be comforting some times its not. Or in your case its a mixed response...both repelling and drawing you. You've released the kraken with this poem. It's fierce honesty can't be ignored, its brutal poignancy is undeniable. You always give of yourself in your poetry...this one was came from the deepest part of you. Thank you for sharing it...much love...

One word: Masochism. Something I can relate to and something we all unconsciously are a slave to at one point or another. Beautifully conveyed and articulately written.

Thanks Cyn, I guess it is to some extent....conscious or not, it's always a challenge to be there.
"i feel I am going insane, yet I never want it to stop"--so true. I have been to this place, as a matter of fact, i seem to visit it often. You have described this scenario in a beautifully emotional and stringently plausible way. An excellent write, my friend.

knowing that the very idea of what is torturing your soul is also giving you your heart and courage to continue is a blessing and a curse. but, you don't need this explained to you. it is through your writing that you release this pain and anxiety so that you may continue to concentrate on the normal business of getting on with your life. you do it admirably and with great finesse....pen on, dear posy.

Even broken spirits are looking for forsaken selves and lost whispers of life and love. Some go insane and some wither with the wind .
It is a pleasure to visit and charge my soul...:)

Thank you too lady poetic...:)
What a powerful, overwhelming glimpse of the dark shadows of the mind.. the place we fall into and only slide down deeper. Pain and yet somehow a place of remembrance in the pleasure.

Exactly Craig...I guess this place is recognizable by so many of us, thanks so much.
It is the realization that the love of the person you care most for is drifting far from where it had always been that alleviates emotional defeat. But this thing happens, and it changes who we are for the better and so will it be for the rest of our lives and next. Once again, you have shared fragments of cherished memories skillfully crafted into painfully beautiful words.

You're most welcome:)

We try our best to stay afloat and yet the darkness sometimes seems to close over us in huge waves....

This poetry expresses a pain and anguish so raw, so total, the reader takes that journey along with you to the depths, the bottomless pits where the spirit has fallen...

All I would say is that you are a survivor, a fighter, a winner. Just try to push the feeling away with all your life force.

After all, this is life and We have to go on...

Between the old ghosts and the skeletons locked in the closet, it is a wonder anyone ever visits our veritable "haunted house". It's like Halloween everyday in that place, no? :)

I am not making light of the feelings in this piece. They speak for themselves.
Another great work from you. :)
