Tree of Hearts

Tree of Hearts

A Poem by Frieda P

How could my heart be lonely
when you've dealt me
      the tree of hearts

I'm alone,
      even when here with you
old rain clouds burst
      over my soul
your skies are still sunny overhead

My tree of life
 comes with baggage
from another
         time and place
how many hearts need fall & shatter
till that tree is bare

 In the midst of winter
  you showered me lavishly
       with attention to grow
damaged roots could not
     lap up your affections
you recoiled from pain
   within my fray~

that's why I say,
 'it's not you, it's me'
                                 an old cliche - -
                                           yes, I know,

 exactly how,

                           it was first unearthed

More brokeness and brokenheartedness... And truly felt here.

I'm alone,
even when here with you

damaged roots could not
lap up your affections

Such tragic thoughts, how damaged the soul can become, that even the sun cannot penetrate... How can this winter devastated tree awaken to spring and bear its fruit again...

Amen to this. This always presents an uphill battle for men. The battle with a women's baggage. A battle never fully one.

Again, you bare all, which makes your writes that much powerful.

Ha! Have you heard it before?
This comes across quite emotionally powered. Poignant and well written.

In time the pain fades (not to be forgotten. It just lies dormant until provoked) and the heart opens to welcome love again when the time is right.

:) You are welcome.
If I am gonna be lonely then I would rather be alone.
If we do not feel complete with the one next to us then it is time to move on.
I do love that line "it is not you it is me." We should compromise and say it is us.

Ha! Isn't everything? ;-P
It's amazing how visual art can inspire you in so many different ways...you never fail to surprise me, and this is another one of those pockets of surprise...I don't derive this kind of loneliness from you writing very often...maybe I've just gotten spoiled by your penchant for spice ;P An achingly beautiful write in any event...

Haha Usually yes I am ;P
Let me just start with the fact that that is a really cool picture.

I like how emotional this is. I can kinda relate too I guess.

Kinda means you're not all the way there...good on you, and thanks! ;-)
Wow, so very sad that happiness has somehow been taken away and in such a manner that the long for its return is nonexistent. This one hurt me inside as I have felt this same feeling before, fortunately I grew out of it. Frieda dear, smile...please?

Not too sure but you will find it at least takes one day at a time
I was going to comment on only one part of this but after going back and reading it again, that would be impossible. Every single piece of this is beautifully crafted and resonates deeply. Thank you for sharing.
