If Only...IMAGINE

If Only...IMAGINE

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Tribute to John Lennon ~~ you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

"
If only life were as sweet as buttefly kisses,
      upon the nose of kittens
we'd not have crime or strife,
                no poverty or religious battles
no child could be abused,
               no woman battered,
politicians would fight
for the good of the people
there'd be no lawyer jokes
            nor homeless shelters
no person left starving
in the middle of a freezing night,
countries living in peace
          sharing knowledge & ideas
no guns, no violence, no prejudice,
 no alienation of nations~

It's no longer about self preservation
as much as it is greed
is Nirvana perhaps a quirky pipe dream
 of the deluded hopefuls
was Lennon insane when he said
"give peace a chance"
I think he lived in the delusion
 of flutterbys and kitten's
perhaps that allusion could work
if we all had that same dream...

'you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one'

One man impacted so many, all these years later his words & actions of peace live on..
If we all remember to act in peace, kindness, understanding in our everyday lives & decisions what a positive trickle down impact we have on those around us, strangers we encounter... our country and the world can only benefit positively..for it is not just environment that is in need of protection, but humanity needs protection.. to know love still exists, that hands are there to hold, and tears are there to share..and peace is a possible that is within all our hands... sorry to blather on...but you wrote the poem ( :

Loved the word choices in this piece. Very understandable. I wish the concept would work. Wen many people band together in one cause, miracles can be accomplished. How do we know when we haven't given it a chance? Great write!

It seems such an easy concept, people are complicated. Thanks for your thoughts here Barbara.
Wow, incorporating Lennon's quote and song are truly one of a kind. He does strives for perfection and look what had gotten into him. He died prematurely. Anyway, the poem really talks of the truth around us and people kept on sleepwalking these thoughts when they go on rallies and stuff about perfection, unity and hope. It's the same all over again. I'm not being pessimistic here but this is my opinion. I must say, it's better to act than to just blame others for the faults of humanity. If only this work will be posted in front of the United Nations, I'm sure it will make the whole world look better.

Nice, John is still alive & well...thanks Holly.
A missed man in our world. The men of peace are took from us too soon. He left his music and his memory. Thank you John Lennon for showing us the way to peace. Thank you for the poem to remember a good man. A outstanding poem,.

Thanks for your touching review John.
Beautifully written Frieda and an awesome message. Though, while there is still evil in the world there will be no peace. Another great write.

Welcome :)
"All we are saying...is give peace a chance" As long as there is one remaining who hears the dreams, then the dreams of the many may still come true. Yes indeed, your words hit home, and you are not alone. Frieda, you may be the one who sees, hears, thinks and dreams what is all of ours. It is true, John Lennon was not the only one, for you are here to help lead us in these dreams. Very nice.

Sweet review, thanks so much Jack.
Very poignant piece. Lennon had loads of help with his thinking don't forget. The swinging sixties a liberal era with drugs on tap. They affected his thinking. Still I support his peace ideology (which Yoko instilled in him).

If 'drugs on tap' make one a peace seeker then maybe we all need to smoke a little weed, thanks John.. read more
What a hero that man was! So many of us dream, but I sometimes wonder if not enough of us do anything about those dreams.
