If Only...IMAGINE

If Only...IMAGINE

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Tribute to John Lennon ~~ you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

"
If only life were as sweet as buttefly kisses,
      upon the nose of kittens
we'd not have crime or strife,
                no poverty or religious battles
no child could be abused,
               no woman battered,
politicians would fight
for the good of the people
there'd be no lawyer jokes
            nor homeless shelters
no person left starving
in the middle of a freezing night,
countries living in peace
          sharing knowledge & ideas
no guns, no violence, no prejudice,
 no alienation of nations~

It's no longer about self preservation
as much as it is greed
is Nirvana perhaps a quirky pipe dream
 of the deluded hopefuls
was Lennon insane when he said
"give peace a chance"
I think he lived in the delusion
 of flutterbys and kitten's
perhaps that allusion could work
if we all had that same dream...

'you may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one'

One man impacted so many, all these years later his words & actions of peace live on..
If we all remember to act in peace, kindness, understanding in our everyday lives & decisions what a positive trickle down impact we have on those around us, strangers we encounter... our country and the world can only benefit positively..for it is not just environment that is in need of protection, but humanity needs protection.. to know love still exists, that hands are there to hold, and tears are there to share..and peace is a possible that is within all our hands... sorry to blather on...but you wrote the poem ( :

Me!! I'm also a dreamer! And always will :)
Dreams allow us to see the impossibilities. Peace. If we mean it in general, it may be impossible. But it's life. If some don't have their own peace, it's their own choice. Problem comes when these people drag others into their miseries. It's so uncool. :(

Yes, for simpleminded, you speak words of brilliance! Thanks so much SM.
This is such a cleansing peace. Was thoroughly needed for me personally and I am still a dreamer. You have a such a range. Nice work.

John Lennon was a crazy dreamer, yes...and there are two types of people in the world: people who believe in his dream and people who don't. I know on which side I land ;-) and that is quite something considering...I'm not a very head in the clouds type of person, you know? But something about the Lennon doctrine is very comforting. Thanks for sharing this with us. Great stuff...

'honey' that'll only get you another slap...
This is a beautifully penned tribute. We need the dreamers it let's the rest believe that they might dream too.

So happy to hear you say that! :-)
" I fear there are no John Lennon''s around to carry on his legacy of peace"

There might still be a person who carries the same legacy. The only difference is that John Lennon was a star and it is a thousand steps on his advantage. However huge your desire for wold peace, it will take you a lifetime to be heard of or it will cost your life.

The poem itself carries the same legacy, the same hope, the same dreams, the same disappointment of the things that haven't been done.

What a lovely thought!

Because you created a lovely thought... that while perhaps impossible, shouldn't be allowed to die.
it only takes one believer, one dreamer to make a change. John knew this, that simply through the power of music he could effect a small revolution , non violent and passive, yet efficient enough to garner the attention of the masses and some key public figures. look at the changes his influence made on our society, hell, The Beatles were a force in music never before or since the likes have been seen or heard. the best musicians will tell you that Lennon, McCartney and Harrison were huge influences on their careers. John Lennon is a martyr, simply because he was murdered , a positive force for good, in front of our eyes...by an underachieving nobody who just wanted fame....so, i imagine you'll remember him and no one will remember the mark david chapmans of the world, for all they do is evil. awesome poem, frieda, i IMAGINE this will have to go in my faves
