The POET

The POET

A Poem by Frieda P

Yes, we are a quirky lot...
                     we sketch from our hearts
 minds connected to the universe
                     with ethereal cords
velvet paints our words,
celestial vapory thoughts etched in poetry
tongue lashings, depression, joy of life,
                      nature and lust of love
all bound in bonded text, secured with soul,
               tied in gossamer ribbon
like a prayer on a zephyr
we place our imposing nuances in your care
sacred are the words of a poet's
                   outward flight to new horizons

I love you use of inconsistent rhythm and meter within an established sonnet form. The use of enjambment and lack of a heroic couplet or even full stop shows the continuity of the narrative group, it suggests a poets that a poets work is never 'finished', we just continuously search for new horizons without an ultimate resolution. I like this message of an infinite world to explore through poetry.

Much appreciated jacob, and you know it...
And this.. this is why I would rather be a poor poet than a rich anything else. Poet's eyes see deeper... farther... higher... and those 26 letters become infused with pure passion that makes living so much more delicious in every way. Let's fly, shall we... with no lines or backage fees.. only bliss.
