I Write therefore I Am

I Write therefore I Am

A Poem by Frieda P

I write poetry
    because no one hears
                the spoken word
    ~ink it~
               magically,
   becomes more arresting
             than the utterance of voice

like an enchanting song
it brings a melody to mind
   undulating waves in and about
           the strings of heart
lengths of strands,
 unadulterated thoughts
            to bestow

A divine. sweet find .
like the mystical pearls of an oyster
           twisted gently to
overflow & materialize
          set the mood so elevated
take it the deepest sea depths
or the sky if you dare,
commanding in its flight...

        Just fly with it instinctively
feel the winds soar as you heighten,
                   & release yourself so freely

Yet literature may not always end up as something positive, perhaps it might be something of the abrogating mental aroma. For many authors such as myself go mad over the smallest bits of harmful realization throughout descending into greater literature.

It's all good, as long as it makes you 'feel' something in estimation...thanks Alexander.

Your lovely poem does all it says so beautifully. It's a powerful thing to have such mastery of words.

Oh what a great review Claire, I was talking more of the 'feel' of poetry, but I'll take it! :-)
love the line " like the mystical pearls of an oyster" that they are when a poet/poetess words touches the reader ..

Oh thanks Renee, so glad you liked it.
I can't say much in response to this one, it's all in the poem :) And I don't need to tell you I sympathize with it ;P

Thanks so much Gomer, glad you enjoyed it. :-)
Wonderfully written, Frieda! Writing takes us everywhere, if we let it. Reading allows others to join us on the journey, or it takes them in a similar but different path due to their differing experiences or mind set. An inspirational read.
now ... where is that pen? ;)

I envy you your spontaneity, Freida - especially because, unlike so many, you manage to produce unfettered art with very real music to it. I write poetry to actually clarify thoughts for myself, but my impression is that you already have that clarity before you start writing! I love this piece. P.

Ha, oh so serious : P
Dear Frieda P

Not so much 'Cogito ergo sum' - I think therefore I am; rather 'Scribo ergo sum' - I write therefore I am.

This is a beautifully crafted poem. I love the bravery of the deleted word; it's uncommon, unusual and stands out.

As for sentiment, perhaps we all as writers agree, but I above all - I write with greater clarity and meaning than I can ever get across in speech.

This may be brief as commentaries go or at least relative to many of mine. But the strength of feeling and candour remain the same.

The meaning of words, of your words will linger rather longer than when I place my rather meaningless final, signature sign off, James, on this page.

But then I don't think thoughts that provoke ever leave us. They have the habit of returning when we are in reflective mode. And I for one am pleased they do.

Thank you for sharing this charming piece.

With my kindest regards

James
