Life Beats
A Poem by
Frieda P
I have seen a thousand deaths
with my eyes
lived a million years
in my mind
been wounded in battle
never to surrender
beaten, torn, abused and misused
all in the name of love
stepped in giant potholes,
lost my way
Hung from cliff's edge
visited insanity,
knocked at oblivion's door,
dined with denial
crushed the poppies,
lived in sin & made my bed,
slept in it too
What stands firm and out shines,
sheds magnificent light
above all others
I've created life
and watched it grow

Well, you know I can relate :) This is my type of piece. The pain of life also makes its beauty. You express that perfectly in this poem.
I've created life and watched it grow. Now that's deep... actually makes me think that no matter what I did, good or bad... I still had a hand in making things happen. Tight.

Thanks for reading Holly, at least I didn't make you cry this time!
This is a strong piece. The structure and wording are perfect. The feeling of conviction that comes across.. This is who I have been and who I am, like it or not! I will be accepted as no less!
Wonderful work, Frieda!

Thanks so much Rougue, your words are beautiful.
You know, you said I could take any subject and make it beautiful, Dear Frieda, I do not even come close to you. Another wonderful poem.

Such a heart warming poem!
been wounded in battle
never to surrender
beaten, torn, abused and misused
all in the name of love

Some of my favourite lines
