i.N.T.I.M.A.C.Y

A Poem by Frieda P

If I were to dive into you,
          would you rescue me
if I gave love one more shot
 would you slay me
so frightened of entanglements
 and i.n.t.i.m.a.c.y
are there really marigolds
               and rainbows to be shared
sundowns of safe places to fall
              and sunrises to recall
is your affection a ploy
 or truth written in affinity
your rapport is simpatico
but not sure I can see
past these weaknesses and ploys
 that have mar'd me
are we on the same wave length,
 you and I
a leisurely stroll is my desire,
like a sweet cup of tea
heeding diving in head first
 with eyes wide shut
asphyxiated by last plunge,
                 I carry a sinking reminder
   baggage is suffocating
        yet, an abstruse lesson learned
      immerse me in this dream
                      without suffocation's sacrifice
I will ardently plunge
                my soul bouyant
            to swim in your depths

Poignant, ethereal and plays with my mind all at the same time.... there is so much heart spilled into every breath beneath the surface of each word...I could feel the voice pass through me, as it awakened understanding emotions, and bookmarked familiar memories.........

Sorry Angel, I don't know I missed this grand review, really appreciate your kind words....

It's admirable to be willing to give love another try, open oneself up to another guy, take the plunge again, especially after one is so hurt so pained that the mere thought of love can be suffocating. I commend you because I cannot do it. Now I am in love with my shell.

Hats off and applause for bringing up this question in such beautiful words!

Admirable or off the wall crazy, not exactly sure which Divya!
Captures the hesitancy of one who knows how much it can hurt

Yes it does indeed, thanks Jibey.
Though it may not feel like it ..hearts are resilient....trust however is not...but experience is the best teacher...

I think they tend to go hand in hand, once I can't trust, my heart is maimed. Thanks Renee.
It is easy to be once bitten twice shy when hurt by love... but we cannot let yesterday keep us from the treasures of today.

That's what i love about this place, I learn something new every day! ;-P
It's hard to plunge into the depth, and trust that you won't be swallowed whole. Yet, I think without plunging in completely we don't know to what level of intimacy a relationship will reach. It's like a game of chicken sometimes. Who is going to reveal their feelings, depth of trust, and longing first. And then, will it be reciprocated in kind or will we be left, stripped bare in the spotlight? What consequence can we handle better is an individual choice. Some feel more secure in holding back a little (or a lot) and treading cautiously, while others decide the course is more comfortable to plunge in and following their heart completely, come what may.
A wish for you - to meet and find one that sings to your heart and holds it also with tender care. Wonderful writing on matters of the heart!

It's all work, or it'll all work out?
There is a gorgeous desire here to be loved; understood and treasured. In intimacy we find ourselves disrobed and vulnerable. You can only find peace with one you perfectly trust... one who adores you fully. Your lush words breathe forth the foundation: you must never hope your lover can read your mind... you must lay out your desires as clearly as possible. You've done that here in elegance and passion.

Well, some of us would be awful lucky to get just a peek. ;)
Dear Frieda sweetheart,

Such a ray of extremely insight here, your words never chase to amaze me, When I read you i got the feeling of being recognized, as if I could swim in that see of all too...

The uncertainty of the pure release into nothing, I find here.
The total self surrender to the unknown
That is an art, and you bring your words as a survivor dear woman.

All I can do is throw you roses at the screen.... of how
Brave i find you. thank you.

The questions roar loudly in this poem. The answers you seek can only be found through trial and error unfortunately. I for one hope somene answers yes and means it with all of their heart so that your beautiful smile may be permanent. Frieda, if you had a fan club, I would be president. Very cool.

I'm flattered by your praise Jack, thanks so much for this great review, you made my night.
it is a terrifying thing to persuade oneself to dive into the depths of rapture and the nuances of acceptance and abandonment, particularly for those who have been so cruelly damaged by the past. i don't know what is worse, the longing and uncertainty or the reckless headlong catapult toward the unknown. all i can say is, nothing ventured, nothing gained (or lost) aye, there is the rub! i think, personally, given the opportunity i would venture acceptingly but with caution and trepidation. it is a double edged sword. use it or fall on it. oh, but i do miss the lure and the passion of intimacy, blessed be!
