Childhood sexual abuse is something people close their eyes to and turn their heads away from, not standing up for the innocent. This is my voice giving it a face.
Many of you will feel uncomfortable reading this, and I hope that's true, being uncomfortable and staying silent are two different things. I have hopes that people won't stay silent on this horrific issue any longer. It devours lives, being ultimately and internally damaging to say the very least.

you nailed the accursed head on this one, the flow, the dialoged pain set to perfect un-perfect word choice , the ending had me in musty tears, cellar wall fears like closing the door on some many closets, who's moth's feast on the sweat of so, sowed many living in nightmares...great piece

This was such a powerful piece, and I applaud you for breaking the silence on such a prevalent, ongoing situation in modern society. Thank you for sharing!
people see that everyday and they forget in minutes afterwards. simply that is because it doesnt happen to their own kids. i hope they would think, what if this happened to their own kids oneday?what would those mature people feel twards the people who saw it and kept silent? i love the messages you send...thank you for that

Well written, Frieda. Child abuse is devastating, a stealing of innocence and of so much more. I'd like to think that awareness has improved, but I fear many children do not have the resources or courage to seek help. It is one reason they are preyed upon by the guilty. Unfortunately, we must arm our children at a young age to be on the defensive and watchful. That too is a stealing of innocence, but it cannot be avoided when such dangers lurk in corners.
My daughter asked me a few weeks ago if her grandfather were still alive would he be in our lives... That answer was a resounding "no". You're not alone in this Frieda. I faced my demon head on as a teen and it helped me immensely. I don't dwell there anymore. However, I understand everyone's hell is different, circumstances, and level of torment vary, and your loss is tremendous in this horror. Thinking of you dear! Wishing you much peace

Those are cases they know of, most go undetected and/or reported. Thanks so much for your kind and sensitive response Sera. Much appreciated, and the same to you my friend.
I hate people who do this, they make me sick! It is terrible and just horrific how someone could do this to anyone never mind a father doing it to his own child.
You have written this in such a way that the reader feels as though they are there, the emotion is raw and I felt it all! What a great write on such a horrific topic.

Another memorable poem from you on the subject. True...the sins of fathers are borne by their offsprings for generations...This is a literal truth. I just go on with the hope that there is recompense? somwhere...if not in this world...then the next...
You wrote wonderfully. Each word drove home the sheer pain & angst felt!

Thanks Divya, I hope you're right, I'm not sure even Karma could settle this score.
I'm not sure if I can say anything that hasn't already been said...but you know you have my sympathy, my empathy, and my support...not only are you demonstrating your own strength and courage with this piece, but you're inspiring anyone else who's been through it and reads these words, and that goes a long way towards positive changes being realized.

Thanks so much Steve, really appreciate your support, now and throughout my time here. xo
I agree with you. The only way to stop this stuff is to break the wall of silence and get people talking. And that's the hardest part of it, for bystanders, for lecturers, but most especially for the victims themselves. It's treated like the Holocaust--so terrible no one even wants to admit it happens. The greatest irony is that its people's horror of this subject, their fear to deal with it, that permits it to continue. It's one heck of a vicious cycle. And if we don't work to break it now, we are responsible--directly or indirectly--for allowing it to happen to the next generation; possibly our own kids and grandkids.
And when the judgement day comes, and we all have to face what we did and didn't do, EVERY adult will be held accountable--there won't be any sitting on the sidelines on that day; protests of "I'm not involved" and "leave me out of this; I had nothing to do with that stuff" is gonna fall on God's ears. I do believe, at that moment, God's ears will hear them . . . and He'll hear their empty falsehoods and pathetic cowardly attempts at self-justification. This sin is the type that rests on everyone's shoulders . . . "the only thing necessary for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing," as Edmund Burke once said. (I think I quoted that right). As human beings, we're all guilty of looking the other way; I know I am, much too often, and I feel the shame of it cutting across my conscience even as I write this. This poem might not be the most pleasant one you've done, but it's definitely one of the most important--we can't afford to forget what it teaches.
To commit this abuse on a child will damn your soul.
To suffer them as a child can damn your soul; but only if you let it.
(The healing process is life-long, sometimes longer, but at least you can be healed. Never easy, but possible.)
But to stay quiet and look the other way easily damns a thousand.
Thank you for this lesson, Frieda
