I Watch You Cry

I Watch You Cry

A Poem by Frieda P
"

The pain of watching my son go through the painful trials & tribulations of a Divorce prompted this write...

"
Is there a greater pain
 than watching your child cry?
no matter what age
it tugs at the heart strings
a scraped knee, a football injury,
 a dying relationship
each band-aid of love
 holds a special significance
i watched you grow
 from a wild-eyed perfect child
with an extreme sport mentality,
always on the edge
so many runs to emergency
 to make a parent worry
close calls after the pained upset,
we nearly lost you after one
a broken heart has taken you down
like no other injury could
a bitter wound that can't be fixed
 with kisses or learned skill
I've watched you grow into a man,
it's hard to watch you break
For there's no greater love
than a mother for her son

I'm glad you found me, because in turn I have found you. This made my blood run cold. I have published very little on here, most of my work goes on Booksie.com where I have already established some strong connections due to my writing on my own abused childhood. I also struggle daily watching my own 25 year old son waste his once gilded life away. You are the first writer I have found to touch on this subject. Rightly or wrongly I wrote one on my son's attempted suicide and his sister's response. If I find there is any interest on Writers Cafe, no doubt I will add them. Thanks again.

Boy oh boy can I relate but unfortunately my story includes watching my only son suffer and die from cancer at the age of 38. Always appreciate the times of your life with that wonderful child. Your friend in words, Pete

So sorry Pete, I can only imagine your pain, I lost my sister, the pain never ceases does it?
yes you are absolutely right. mothers love is above all heavens gifts, even itself. but todays generation take her, the person who stays awake for you to sleep, for granted. my mother trembles more than my pain when a scratch scars my skin. Truly divine. Those children who shows in gratitude to her paves their way to a place painful than the home of devil. your poem covers the unexpected. sorry for ur son but above all sympathy with you.

thanks so much for your kindness critic h...much appreciated.
The mother-son bond is especially divine and I vouch for it being mum to a little 6 year old boy!

Just be there for him and let him know you love him more than anyone can.

As a poem, this has all the mother's love in it and more. Superb!

I agree with your thoughts. Our children become our life. We hope happiness and success for them. I agree with the statements in the poem. We will cried often with our children in good and bad times. Thank you for the outstanding poetry.

You always make me smile David, good idea.
Nice mother's love piece. Many fathers feel equally as passionate about their children. I bought my younger a two up from the ages of 4 and 6 after my ex ran off with a public school boy!

Still at least now I know why you're so cranky... lol
kidding ;-)
this is a lovely, sad piece...a mother's love, yes.

sorry your son is going through this...my mom had to apply the band aid three times for me...

it seemed to hurt her the last two times, more than it did me.

thanks jacob, 3xs can't even fathom....poor you, poor mom
Sorry to hear about that Frieda, you're an amazing mother and it shows not only now that i've gotten to know you better as a friend but through your poems and writings. We love you F.P < 3 this was touching and beautiful, a mothers love can never be replaced and although it can't cure all the wounds it can sure as hell make them pain a lot less.
