I Watch You Cry

I Watch You Cry

A Poem by Frieda P
"

The pain of watching my son go through the painful trials & tribulations of a Divorce prompted this write...

"
Is there a greater pain
 than watching your child cry?
no matter what age
it tugs at the heart strings
a scraped knee, a football injury,
 a dying relationship
each band-aid of love
 holds a special significance
i watched you grow
 from a wild-eyed perfect child
with an extreme sport mentality,
always on the edge
so many runs to emergency
 to make a parent worry
close calls after the pained upset,
we nearly lost you after one
a broken heart has taken you down
like no other injury could
a bitter wound that can't be fixed
 with kisses or learned skill
I've watched you grow into a man,
it's hard to watch you break
For there's no greater love
than a mother for her son

I'm glad you found me, because in turn I have found you. This made my blood run cold. I have published very little on here, most of my work goes on Booksie.com where I have already established some strong connections due to my writing on my own abused childhood. I also struggle daily watching my own 25 year old son waste his once gilded life away. You are the first writer I have found to touch on this subject. Rightly or wrongly I wrote one on my son's attempted suicide and his sister's response. If I find there is any interest on Writers Cafe, no doubt I will add them. Thanks again.

It doesn't matter how old our children are, we always feel their pain and wish we could lessen the blows of life. I feel the same way about my son!

Aww. So beautiful and heartfelt and emotional. I can truly feel the love you have for him in every new line and I am sure he will appreciated it as well. There is no better cure for heartache than a mothers love.

Thanks Annabelle.
Very touching writing of a very sad situation. You have done a great writing to capture the emotions of it all. I do have to say, that being on the Father side of this same type of situation, it is just as emotional from the Fathers perspecive, but of course we are"expected" to be more stoic, and less emotional about it. Which sometimes seems really unfair, but understandable. Nice writing.

Thanks Dalia, much appreciated.
I know kids who have divorced parents and have become royally screwed up. Some cannot handle the emotional pain, especially when no parent was there to help them through the hard times. The fact you want to be there for tout son makes you not only a compassionate person, but a fantastic mother. Beautiful piece Frieda P!!

My pleasure, great read
This broke my heart into a dozen little pieces. My own divorce was amicable, without malice, just two people who realized they'd made a terrible mistake, but I watched my own parents do battle for years. I am so sorry your son is going through that...Great job expressing your pain, Frieda, but then, we expect no less from you...

:( This is devastating news, delivered through a poem capable of bringing moisture to the eyes of the most stoic reader....I feel like I should say more but I'm at a loss for words...sadly consolation is not one of my strong suits...I can only echo the sentiments of the others below and wish you all the best and urge you all to stay strong and hopeful...you know I care :)

Wow, this was a touching write Hun. You're a wonderful and amazing Mother, you're beautiful and I know that you're there for him whenever. You're like my daddy with me :-) Always wanting us happy and doing your best but then something like this happens and you feel helpless, right? You're not, you're there for your son which is helping him already. You being there for him, helps him more than anyone could know! Caring and amazing! :-D Going through a divorce is tough, I can't imagine it but I've seen it.
This really touched me sweetie, it was so touching and I felt like it was happening in front of me. All my love hun xox < 3
