I Watch You Cry

I Watch You Cry

A Poem by Frieda P
"

The pain of watching my son go through the painful trials & tribulations of a Divorce prompted this write...

"
Is there a greater pain
 than watching your child cry?
no matter what age
it tugs at the heart strings
a scraped knee, a football injury,
 a dying relationship
each band-aid of love
 holds a special significance
i watched you grow
 from a wild-eyed perfect child
with an extreme sport mentality,
always on the edge
so many runs to emergency
 to make a parent worry
close calls after the pained upset,
we nearly lost you after one
a broken heart has taken you down
like no other injury could
a bitter wound that can't be fixed
 with kisses or learned skill
I've watched you grow into a man,
it's hard to watch you break
For there's no greater love
than a mother for her son

I'm glad you found me, because in turn I have found you. This made my blood run cold. I have published very little on here, most of my work goes on Booksie.com where I have already established some strong connections due to my writing on my own abused childhood. I also struggle daily watching my own 25 year old son waste his once gilded life away. You are the first writer I have found to touch on this subject. Rightly or wrongly I wrote one on my son's attempted suicide and his sister's response. If I find there is any interest on Writers Cafe, no doubt I will add them. Thanks again.

Beautiful and quite true. A mother and her child's love is quite special. :)

Ah nice....one of each. Thanks Poetic Fluffer.
I think you have described this feeling perfectly. You want to help and there is a feeling of helplessness blocking the way. Great write. (Fathers can feel this, also.)

Thanks so much Yellow Butterfly, you must have children.
I feel your heart in this one. And I have a son too, so I can totally relate, though my child is only 4, not old enough for such heartbreaks... Still there is nothing that can be compared to that love, having someone we will worry over for a lifetime of tribulations...
We watch them grow, struggle, win... And hope that through it all, a mothers love will keep them afloat...

I know...sigh....
And today it is sunny in LA!
Sorry to hear of the circumstances for your son. Heartache is a difficult wound as there's not much we, on the outside, can do to help. Very hard as a mom to watch our children suffer

Oh my, I sorely hope you don't mean two sons...
Every line is so heartfelt ... Bless your son ... This too shall pass
