Drift Away

Let's float away

                          just you and me

                               above the clouds

                   our own peace of sky

                                            where poppies sing

           and birds do flips

          the moon

                          another chichi dimension

                                    we'll touch the stars

    the two of us

                                              burn every ember

                            till it sizzles

             Drift away with me

                      in my wafty bubble

                                where rainbows split 

                                       the air with confetti

 our eyes

                          will burn aflame 

                                       with lapis lazuli

                                      our hearts

                                              will meld

                                                   as one

                                                           like the

                                                                 fire

                                                                 of snowflakes

Is Waltzing Matilda warming up for another song? ;) You have certainly made the stars dance and the cosmos sing with this gem Frieda...there's even a hint of mischievousness in it, like an invitation to elope...it made me think of Moonlight Drive (Doors) This is one of your best :)

;) Truth be told, I like Absolutely Live the best but live albums are a different animal altogether...and it's much like Cohen and Floyd in the sense that some music simply demands after-hours listening...critics used to say that you couldn't listen to Cohen when the sun was out and I don't think they were wrong ;P

It generally pertains to his early stuff, which is the musical equivalent of an ashtray...of course he has taken on an ethereal and spiritual aura in his older years but even in Hallelujah there is talk of tying one down and cutting their hair...so I guess it's really his delivery that has changed with age ;P
