Raven Bluff

Wrote this whilst listening to Ghost Song by Max Ablitzer, music included. Hope you enjoy the music as much as I did.

I flew with the dark raven

   for he was the only one

   who could taste or see

   such  insanely sweet madness in me

   he perched himself right astride

   without cawing a sound

   naught a lecture to take care

Mockingly looming overhead

   he stared me straight in the eye

So smooth and lovingly lush he sailed 

   soared within me to new heights

   before we burst into fluid flight 

I took him in languidly 

   hauntingly mysterious elixir

   a cryptic spirit unto himself

Cracked half a vitriolic sad smile

   whilst he prepared me for sin

Knocking back at my door

  to taunt me raving yet afresh

  he sing songs his intoxication into me,

  then takes me for a mystical rendezvous

  raven's song so tastefully contrived

              we sing together,

                           twisted in consumption

                                                   the dark raven in me

                                                                    never judges

Mystical, black ravens taking you out on ethereal dates and slowly embedding itself into your soul, becoming forever a part of you (hence the singing together in the end, and the dark raven IN you never judging). What a dark centerpiece for a love felt by a person trying to empty themself.. Well done.

This piece has now, after the fifth read, infused itself in me. I will not sit here and try to conjured up your meaning except to say, we all have this dark intoxicant flowing through our veins, it lives with us and breathes with us and often is us, though in the shadows where it hides, the clouded skies in which it flies, it loves us as we love oursleves.

The first 5 lines of this poem will remain with me always. I can hear it spoken in my head. It is magic and I thank you for that.

I'll tell you a little secret then, I thought someone would guess, the kimmer in the least, but I actually wrote it about vodka and being intoxicated...

a fresh new air for the raven's song rhythm... completely distinct in its nature, wonderful in comparison in its ozing metaphors...a mysterious persona hides in a ravens cloak. Great work my friend.

Oh nothing with a rush dear... it's in my second row I guess now....
It is just such an amazing bird, in good and bad... and has many meanings. The music is very haunting, and deep, as your words too. Loved it.
