A Poem by Frieda P

I pour out my heart to you in hopes of a bond
you turn on me like a tiger in lurch for the prey
how can your heart be so stone cold as ice
I expose my soul and you squash my heart

I merely wanted a dance with you in kind
love is not a word that jails your heart
rather one that captures each of our senses
to last a lifetime of eternitys

To bring to heightened awareness and awe
to sleep with a safe place to fall all night long
how can three of the smallest, simplest words
cause such a stir of confusion and irrational fear?

Three small words, are not meant to bring you down
yet rather to lift you to new heights to soar
free within the knowledge that someone adores
all that is the essence of your total embodiment

My heart leapt free and openly to engage you
words impact and impart a special meaning
to all that exists between spaces of
 torrid languishing and
merely coffee with the morning paper

If I'm not important enough to speak the truth
walk out the door and let me find the true meaning
stop tugging on my heart strings with your charms
my feminine wiles are not at play here

I'm not trying to trap the great white hunter
I feel your lips but not the warmth of contentment
just wanted to tie our hearts together with a note
that sky write the three little words that fall into you
yet written in the sky
or in the sand it disappears

Time will not erase what's in my heart,
so I say those
three little words....
 can't wait forever
for one of us to come to our senses

come onto me, ruffle my ears, trace my heart

whisper it...

Love can be a terrifying word when its always comes with such pain. Yet here you plead its case, make it out to be nice and innocent and I love that. This is how love should be yet too often it is as you say, the one you love turns on you and stomps on your heart. I can clearly see both sides of love here. Awesome write yet again Frieda.

WOW - I am blown away. This speaks volumes to me, oh if you only knew. The ending was phenomenal! Flawless yet again. Shelved in my Library for sure.

Thanks so much Moon.
A tale of love, hope and fear. Saying those words for the first time can be a terrifying experience. So much to give and so much to lose - sigh!

They make it so complicated...or is that us, I'm never quite sure!
Another poem that begs the question in an assertive but loving plea.

Thanks John.
Strong content, flow is good. It has a rhythm that is easy to follow. Your ending I think, is outstanding.
You have taken a complex piece of life and brought it out for all to see and understand. Very well done, Frieda.
