Sweet Surrender

Sweet Surrender

A Poem by Frieda P

Sweet Surrender

That which transports us to travel backwards in time
or the present moment that takes our breath away
a touch, a funny crooked smile, a scent that permeates

Our senses all respond on high intensity to acquiesce
that glint in a lovers eye that says they're consumed
cuddles and hugs from a child for no apparent reason

An old man that tells a war story and stops the heart
don't have to give it any forethought, your mind subscribes
the brain folds within itself and your eyes open in wonder

Incredible wafts of a delicious fresh baked cherry pie
a familiar lingering reminder of musk and coriander
the sight of a Picasso or Monet in it's glorious splendor

The poetry that drifts and moves to another dimension
an old love song, a motion picture show or final tribute
the bittersweet  memories infused in an old photo album

That alluring come hither glint in your true love's eyes
a truth spoken to god, a self realization, a new attitude
the mind surrenders to the beauty and awe on auto pilot

No buttons to push, no instructions to read, it just 'is'
pure unadulterated contentment and adoration
it could be for a sheer second or for a lifetime

Living in the moments that take your breath away

Ecstasy of real life daily living,
life's past history or fantasized
a future's  promise in the soul
powerful forces and remembrances,

It's
            all
                        in
                                  the
 sweetness

                         of

                                                         surrender....

the steps to living a wholesome life are placed at the bottom of this poem, I can't explain the word surrender..I never could. Giving up doesn't quiet do it justice.. but now I know the true meaning of the word.. through this poem.. I know now that no matter what curve balls life throws at us, if we surrender we're not calling quits we're just closing our eyes and swinging that bat..to send our troubles into oblivion. I feel so alive after reading this poem, so ecstatic to be me, be free, be reading this poem! Great imagery and flow.. the structure and presentation was perfect. Freida D: you write so awesome you should take up teaching a poetry class or set up a course on here.

living in the moment, and writing about it...the poems are born from real life, and those who appreciate each breath, each color, each whim of experience.

this is wonderful..."the brain folds within itself"

i am partial to that line...

but love the whole piece.

Thank you kindly jacob, much appreciated
I would surrender to this expression. You showered the soul with oil to ease the dryness left from broken dreams. Fresh wine for a fresh vessel.
I bow and smile as my eyes find you found the perfect pair of shoes to wear today.

ha very cute review, made me smile like a school girl...ha shoes and wine, the way to my heart!
It's as if you have recaptured your own poetic signature. This new style and tone is very appealing to me. It's compact, surreal and lovely in a mundane choice of topics.

...beautifuly penned Frieda....Surrender: " To allow love, life and beauty to flow through our veins bringing contentment to the heart. Surrender, "The life blood of happiness."
