Love Is A Canvas

Love Is A Canvas

A Poem by Frieda P

Love is the canvas we paint
brush strokes of kindness
sweet whispers of a lullaby
love is essentials and the luxury
of a coin for the blind man
a helping hand for the homeless
a touch for the sick and elderly
it's  cookies baking in the oven
the all night sports events
car pooling, band-aids and tears
kissing boo-boo's and applying ice
the late night long talks
breakfast in bed with champagne
cooking special dinners and apple pie
 beaches at sunrise and sunset
it's saying I'm sorry
it's running errands and picking up
it's a reminder of an umbrella in the storm
it's  anniversaries and birthdays
it's looking into someone's eyes
it's sweet lips and hot cheeks
it's passionate kisses
and kisses on the forehead
it's the love of a child, the heart of a friend
love is wonder, at times even painful
love is the watercolors of life's canvas
dripping from every heart
into the care of another's

Came across that 'love is a canvas' heart quote and fell in love with it, just had to write a poem for it. Hope you enjoy.

I really enjoyed the poem. The writing was simple to read and understand and the meanings could be as complex as the mind reading this picture you painted in soft pastels.
One point of definition for aurguments sake is to consider that love is not the canvas at all. Love is, like the rest of your poem points out, each drop of paint and each brush stroke. Love is the light that softly falls on the glowing colors of our actions as well. The canvas is just a 'body' or a "thing", but our actions with that 'body' and the things we do bring love to life!
Thank you for this lovely poem on such a rainy day! You have penned an action of love.

True, but then the quote wouldn't have been of much use. ;-P

Reading and then re-reading, I first felt the pangs but then was completely comforted thinking of my cute little son! Indeed Love is all the wonderful things in this lovely poem and all the people too...
A special tribute to love!

Thanks Divya, lovely review.
Beautifully done and written with the caring heart of a parent, friend, and as a lover. Each done with wonderful kindness and taste. Hard to cover everything that love covers...and you have done it justice.

What a wonderful review Michael, thanks so much...
Oh sweet, sweet love what would the world be without it, even though it sometimes pains us so. A lovely, endearing write.

Thanks, so many colors in that crayola pack of life, but could have gone on for day. :-)
