Dance with Olivier

Dance with Olivier

A Poem by Frieda P

I want to dance off a cliff with Olivier
to feel a gossamer breeze through my locks
under a blue orb dabbling among bubble rocks
whirling silk floats around our steps on clouds
take me on an epic journey of old yesteryear
fate brought us together through the darkest lore
days of old when men were men and fate was fate
wrong was right and history longed for itself
the wuthering heights of passion in my dreams
no matter what I say or do this is me
ghosts of past haunt me to torn love mysteries
enraptured by an old fashioned love story
take me back to candlelight and lusty secrets
beckon to me from those old furled pages
misunderstood, tragedy of an old tale
I lost myself in your dusty depths of allure
dance me to the end of madness and time
'No matter what I ever do or say...this is me
now, standing on this hill with you. This is me, forever'

Author's Note

Frieda P
When I was a very young child, I used to read a lot to get lost inside myself, my favorite book was Wuthering Heights and I loved the character of Heathcliff. When I saw the film I fell in love with Laurence Olivier.

It's a beautiful and emotive response she is feeling deep within, but also she has this almost selfish attraction to suicide at midnight, having legend be her guide to help her understand that these things she feels are legitimate and free!! At the end of the story I wrote "Lady Nicole", they jump from a cliff with that surrendering that is hinted at in this poem. It's timeless and it would also make for a great story if you were to build on the character and run with it. Great poem!! You wrote Muhammad and that got me nervous when you told me, but I was worried to end up on FOX News with a "strange" comment I might leave!! lol I like it. xoxo -Mark

'lol, not funny', is an oxymoron sweetie ;-)
I loved Wuthering Heights too! We are SOOOO related! This was a dreamy, innocent look into escapism, that mechanism we so often employ to deflect the nightmares and brutalities of real life. I can relate to this fantasy all too well. A big thumbs up on this!

*on a critical note, the line " lost myself in your dusty depths of lure" you may consider changing it to allure, in keeping with the romantic theme. Or not. just a suggestion, so don't go all ninja on me and block my a*s now!

this is full of romantic dreaminess mixed in with intensity. i agree: i felt like i was there, which i feel is what a poem (writing) is suppose to do. love the imagery you captured here with your words and the fluidity of this poem. another beauty, thanks for sharing. 100 to 100 :)

wow, well you're quite welcome and thank you for that comment! and same here, as always :)
Romantic, with some power behind it. You can feel you mean every word... Now I want to see the movie (read the book along time ago). I've been watching a lot of old movies lately, movies my father probably saw... I'll put that on my list.
