In A Time

In A Time

A Poem by Frieda P
"

values, life lessos & simple pleasures

"
In a world that doesn't know right from wrong

in a place of unrest where transgressions rank

in a time of latchkey kids with automated techno eyes

how will we teach our children, essence of blueberry pie

baseball cards and wild flowers growing random in march

I tried to teach my children right from wrong. The kids of today don't have concern for the future. Something had happen. World had change. Great dreams are rarely spoke. I hope my child have the chance to have fun. Learn love and travel. It is a scary world we left for our kids. Thank you for the excellent poetry.

yes, seems like today's generation are more into computer...
even i myself guilty of that... for i myself got too caught up with technologies that i or we forgot to see the beauty of our nature or is it still blooming like the ever green forest... my point is we forgot to explore life's hidden challenges .... this is awesome work ms. F

Sadly, the times they are a-changing. Too much time spent in front of screens that do all the thinking for us, and take us away from experiencing things for ourselves. A most poignant write Frieda, full of wisdom and truth. This was well thought out and nicely done. I hand you the shoe of honour!

you are right though, in a time we wont even be able to taleof the tales when we went to scholl and we had to scribble on paper, or tell of how we played dodge ball for fun when we were young.
we wont get the chance to because of the high rate at which the technology is advancing!!
great write my friend!

We won't. The times have passed and with them went the true quality of life. We stole their imagination with television and internet, homogenized them in a school system bent upon producing academic clones and abandoned them within the household. How lucky we were. I could never say to my kids that I wanted them to have what I didn't. I wanted them to have what I had. Great message poem of current conditions saying something that certainly needed to be said.

I loved the poem. Very to the point and gentle with a touch of longing.
I think we can teach our children the best parts of what it means to be human with our love and kindness. The soul can see that right and wrong live in this world. Let them learn from you how to love thru transgressions. Let them watch you marvel over those flowers and relish even the first small bite of pie...

Nice write Frieda. You have captured, rather sadly, innocence lost. We all lose our innocence at some point I guess, but kids these days are losing it sooner. How nice it would be to return to simpler times...
