Ask A Butterfly

Ask A Butterfly

A Poem by Frieda P
"

Change being an inevitable part of life.

"

Life is merely like an elusive butterfly

it transforms us from enclosed prisons

to magnificent creature in but seconds

beauty of transformation cannot be overlooked

nor underestimated for it's charm and grace

Change is inevitable and a necessary function

there'd be no growth, no metamorphosis

life changing cycles is what proves us human

fighting this phenomenon proves fruitless

spreading the wings of growth and liberty is key

Now if my kindly flutterby friends would merely show

how easily it's accomplished we'd emerge from obscurity

holding their secrets of freedom close to the heart

imitations of the unrecognized trials we render relentlessly

we can but only learn from their unseen license to flourish

wonderful...in all aspects. it is mind provoking about life and what it does to us, how much it controls our deeds, if we are really free or we just follow what life gives us, if we can really get out of the prisons we put ourselves it and widen our borders to other areas of life...
it was very nice to make such similarity with a butterfly which we see it flying happily from a place to another and we see only this light part of its life but have we imagined the dangers it faces as a weak creature liable to any simple danger threatening its short life? there is always something deeper than what we can already see..
you have picked the words in a very nice way..
in short, wonderful poem..
thank you..

Nice write, like the metaphor. A butterfly huh? interesting thought what with all the change that's happening constantly in our lives, sometimes I fear that change and sometimes I feel eager. I see wisdom here that comes from age I think...great write as always!

ok...
this is such a great poem addressing the most sensitive part of the life,
"change" most of us fear change and are reluctant to change our ways but as you say it is innevitable!!
great poem though not one of your styles.

haha so true, but I can do this on occasion...it's just more of a stretch! lol :-D
Your words are true. With time and aging. Most of us become wiser and better. I like the thoughts and the good description in the excellent poem.

I like how you use abstractions to form thoughts just like the metamorphosis you describe. I don't think that was intention but that makes it even more intriguing. A truly excellent work that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I'm not that deep doc, whatever falls out of my head into the pen is what you get! ;-)
I too, like this new and uplifting turn to your writing displayed here. People and life are always changing, you are right, there is no sense fighting it, might as well embrace it as best we can. Change can be good, if we let it, use it as an opportunity for growth and learning, instead of viewing it as simply something that rocks our neat and orderly worlds. This coming from one who thrives on neat, orderly worlds.

Have you read the CHEESE book?
