A Chocolate Picnic

A Chocolate Picnic

A Poem by Freya Pillar
"

Poem for my grandad describing the moments that I will cherish most with him.

"
A chocolate picnic with you,
is all I need.
Don't forget the saucer,
and don't forget it has to be cadbury's.
Bring out the Rummykub,
and don't forget the scrabble,
and those insane norfolk words,
that always got me in a muddle.
Thank you for everything,
thank you for the times,
for the memories that we made,
that will never ever die.
You took me to the park,
you put up with my dreadful nine year old singing,
and in turn I put up with you putting me in between the bagpipes at Kerrie and Mark's wedding.
You taught me to be kind,
you taught me to be strong,
you taught me that mum,
is never ever wrong.
And I know in the end,
we all have to go.
And in the end all fish,
swim with the flow.
But all the same,
it just wasn't your time,
though you have to admit,
it was simply sublime.
It's just I'll miss all those things,
every single one.
But most of all I'll miss you calling me 'Sugarplum'.
