You're a monument in my memory

You're a monument in my memory

A Poem by anonymously anisha

To Stephen House

"
You're a monument in my memory;
perfected and idealized, crystallized, consecrated
through years of stolen fantasies
loosely--no, barely--based on reality.

You're a monument that I hide behind;
reflective, protective, over my eyes,
you block my vision so that I am blind,
it is you they see--you--a product of my lies.

You're a monument that's so close to me;
you dwell in my heart, live in my mind,
I've waited for you, year after year after year
But you're gone.

Can monuments speak?
If you can then please intimate to me
when will I ever of you be free?

You have a good sense of what to make for a cadence. Keep it up!

This is good and a little sad, I suppose. I liked the usage of the word monument, and the repeating "year after..." in stanza 3. Thanks for writing this, I enjoyed reading it.
