Stone Heart

Stone Heart

A Poem by anonymously anisha

At the museum gift shop,
among knick-knacks and rock candy,
I found a beautiful stone heart
and bought it
with the hope to give it away.

My heart sat in my backpack, my dresser,
on my mahogany bookshelf.
Forgotten.
Waiting patiently
for that one special day.

It was a heart of stone,
grew colder every second.
If someone only held it,
put it in their pocket,
all of the cold would melt away.

But until then
it sits on a shelf
waiting patiently
for its gray to be pink again
For its night to be day.

This was a brilliant work. I liked the symbolism, and I liked the rhyme, because I didn't notice it at first, but knew the poem flowed well.

Great symbolisim here. A heart that is not given to someone could be because doubts, but it takes courage to risk getting hurt. At least that's how I see ur poem... Great job with this! :)
