Amidst The Blue Skies

Amidst The Blue Skies

A Poem by French Flair

Slowly,
A tear fell down her face,
And then another,
Her cheeks now stained with tears.

She tried to stop,
Telling herself that there was much more to life,
She gazed out the window,
At the blue skies and cool breeze.

She felt neglected,
Another recurring feeling,
Like how she feels unimportant,
And unloved.

In school,
When she can’t help but feel moody,
And when her friends ask her if she’s okay,
All she does is nod.

She hates it,
The feeling of pride and jealousy that wells inside,
That sometimes she feels that the whole world is against her,
She wipes her tears away,
Not wanting anyone to see her cry.

They can never see her cry,
She’s afraid of looking vulnerable,
And weak,

She stares down at her wrists,
Telling herself not to do it,
That suicide isn’t the answer,
That her family loves her.

Do they?
Sometimes she can’t help but wonder,
If she’s important at all,
That when she looks at herself in the mirror,
It’s nothing but sadness.

She looks at the knives in the kitchen,
And then back at her wrists,
Thinking,
But pushing the thought out of her mind,
Not today.

I am truly disturbed at the amount of poems
I have recently read regarding suicide.
It is really beginning to flip me out..

This is indeed intense, and sad, and full
of pain and darkness. I don't know if
this is fact or fiction, but if indeed it
is personal thoughts, please,
tell someone you love what's going
on. The silent suffering is the biggest
reason more suicides aren't prevented.

I am truly concerned, as this appears to
be on the minds of many -- whether
only to write about it, or as an actual contemplation.

"Not today"

Not ever.

May God's love and peace shower us all!

Very powerful. True, most people do hold their feelings inside thinking no one can help them. I see poems as less of a cry for help and more of an outlet. It's good that you take feelings, be they yours or someone else's, and put them out there to share with the world. Most everyone has felt this way at some point and it's good to share something like this to let the ones thinking about cutting or suicide know that there is someone else sharing the experience. If anything you've taken a burden off someone by letting them know it's not just them. Good job.

Wow! This is very intense! I felt the pain in this wonderfully written poem! I hope the "thought" never enters her mind again ... hugs
