Once and Never

Once and Never

A Poem by Christy

Once I knew a man
who loved with his life
Once in my life
I felt an amazing pull

Of beauty into my soul
that gave and loved and soared
high above any tree or cloud or star
but it stopped, just stopped

Like a train on brakes it stopped
came to a screeching halt
Where’s the fuel, where’s the fire
where’s the light, Where’s the burn

Light it, Sing it, Scream it, Run for it
As fast as you can before it’s too late
Still here, still trying to start what once burned
as bright as the sun

One day you’ll have fire
one day the flames will consume you
and alive again you will be

Although I will never see
because you won’t let me
but someone will
and it will be beautiful
