Wonder

Wonder

A Poem by FreezingIris

Wonder

Ponder

Marvel at the sea

Gasp at the beauty of the night sky

The stars are slinking across their curtain

Just for you

Twirling whirling away and forever

The wind blows only as a beacon

The animals crescendo at intimate moments

The fathomless trees decisively gather

Remembering the world as it once was

A mystery

A contemplation of fear

Is all it takes

To never understand

The weight the breeze holds

As it runs across your neck

As it slinks around your feet

And tries to pull you upward into the stars

In vain

Ever in vain

Though the water may lap at your ankles

Beckoning you towards the expanse of horizon

It doesn’t know

You don’t know

That you can’t go

The sharp blades of grass

Attempt a murder

As you fall to the earth

Feeling the gentle caress instead

She’s always there

Whispering in your ear

Though you can’t hear it as well

As the blades of grass

Or the trying wind

Or even the lapping waters

Listen

Hear it

Wonder
