A Chapter by freelancejouster

does she see it?

miniscule girl,
floating like a dream,
a whisper, a whim, a wash of whimsy,
courage in her heart
and laughter on her tongue.

brush of gossamer wing
to plump toddler arm
emits a shrieking squeal of glee.

daylight fades to twilight,
passing in and out
of golden hour
with the drift of cloud and shadow,

and still,
with frail limbs
and crooked teeth,
hunched back and brittle smile,

she frolics
as she had hours ago,
when she was young.
