A Poem by freelancejouster

"are you still there?"

i crept around the corner
quietly searching for
an answer to my question.

i heard a whisper,
a shuffle,
and a shaking rattle of a cough
only to turn the corner
and confirm the whole of my world
entirely vacated.

alone,
a piteous word,
isn't it?

at least the voices keep my company.
