out onto the stage,

more of a saunter than a walk,

he ambles as if there's no place

he would rather be.

 

winking at the women,

drenched in bravado

and ease.

 

not a stumble,

no fall from grace,

and instantly, we know,

that this man is not an ordinary,

sit-on-your-a*s-in-front-of-the-television-

eating-mac-and-cheese-or-

maybe-a-burger-if-he-felt-like-grilling man,

who many of us seem to be,

 

he's a mighty man,

a super man.

 

and the crowd is clapping,

of course they are -- who wouldn't?!

but when he opens his mouth to speak,

we all expected wieghty words,

something to change our opinions.

 

but upon his squeeking tones,

we dissolve into laughter,

like we had been thrown into acid,

 

for the man was not the man we thought him to be.
