A Poem by freelancejouster

excuse me, sir?

a cough and shuffle,

averted eyes.

they were red-rimmed this morning,

he hasn't slept much,

or well, at least.

do you need some help, sir?

he brushes them off gruffly,

a wave of his hairy paw,

cracked nails and strong shoulders

poured into an ill-fitting business suit.

maybe i could get you a glass of water?

he lumbers past them,

sweating,

it beads on his forehead,

stains his shirt

and his rumpled tie.

do you need to sit down?

an angry mumble,

of barely concealed

agitation.

he pushes them back,

before he falls to the floor.

do you need an ambulance?

body twitching,

mouth foaming,

blood spurting,

had he mentioned something

about his arm hurting

to anyone but me?

alright, you sit tight then

i need to make that phonecall.
