TitleA Poem by freelancejouster
let's throw out something powerful, something grand,
pretend it's interesting, or even profound, let's give you something to relate to, or maybe obscurity for obscurity's sake.
i was always sort of adept at that.
pretend i've caught your attention.
and you're not just sitting there in vague or perhaps feigned interest,
and let's not evade the subject, it's quite probably the latter.
pretend i've struck a nerve and you're reading on, to see how i'll insult you next,
pretend this means somethinig to someone, somewhere.
you put on that face and walk that way because you want to,
not because you stole the idea, the mannerisms, the gait from someone else.
right?
pretend you're here for a reason and that reason isn't something awful,
but it's not quite something wonderful,
but it doesn't make you sit about staring at walls, thinking, "my, but this world is mundane"
pretend for a moment, that you're not just pretending.
you have reason.
there is life.
this isn't some facade that you can just pull up at whim, this is your journey,
it's unknown for a reason.
we both know that no one would read their own book if they knew the last page.
now let's look at this seriously, this chased-after matter...
have you lived lately?
