Homeless

Homeless

A Poem by Whiles

 When I arrived

I was another

bone to pick.

And perhaps a long-awaited

excuse

to fix the front steps.

The pine tree had been there

before.

Soon afterward,

the soup

became more important.

A bachelor pad
is not
so bare when
littered with proud
apple smiles
And a woman
can accept you as
her own
for a little while.

I was
Only in this town long enough to pick up some shiny teeth.

Why does frontier blood
run in German veins
clogged with television,
donuts and
celebrities?
Restless hearts and flabby souls
combust.
And a child dies.

Oh my. This is wonderful. Your question "Why does frontier blood run in German veins clogged with television donuts and celebrities?" is such a wonderful sociological question. I believe it's easier to be told what you like and what you don't than getting off the couch and finding out for yourself. The flow of this piece is wonderful also because it shows the utter disgust with society in general. Nicely written!
