Firecracker

Firecracker

A Poem by Whiles
"

it's about my "first death"

"

the dog was resting

her neck snapped

and her eye glazed and fly covered

And I was screaming

my mouth round

my child's voice ripping

through the shimmering

summer heat

the cars were rushing by

fast and lethal as rockets

the roar of motors and tires

drowning out my tiny grief

Wow! I felt like I was reading a painting by Edvard Munch! The first lines took in me with the forwardness. A wonderful write on something a lot of people could identify with!

Aw, poor doggie

That is so sad and scary for a child to have to see. It definetly is written so you can see it as the child see it. Nicely done.

A nice write. It is hard when we first discover that the world doesn't stop no matter how great our personal loss. You've expressed that painful memory very well.

Not to ignore the heartbreaking subject matter - which you describe well - this has a very nice flow, especially read aloud. I like "the dog was resting"...and in the end it seems that death eclispes grief ("...motors and tires | drowning out..."). Really well done
thanks for the read!
