Poisoned Oak

Poisoned Oak

A Poem by franzesty

I'm sensitive yet hardened,
Like an oak standing 100 years,
Felled by toxic waste, in poisonous soil.

I’m the crumbling remnants of a forgotten home,
Felled by soft ground, no foundation to hold me,
I’m too heavy for this world.

I’m in tune, and out
A radio too far North, speaking into darkness
and hearing sighing silence in return,
felled by intolerable loneliness.
