standing

standing

A Poem by Frank M Keller

Here I stand, you don't see the words my face projects,

or hear the emotions that flow from my lips.

My strength is my character not my muscle yet, my embrace

as strong as any man. Strong enough

to hold the weight of  tears of sorrow that soak

into my soul.

But I am not just any man,

giving without being asked

listening when spoken to

paying attention to every detail.

And feeling every word.

My weakness, is my mind filled with fear and doubt

that drains me. Thoughts of rejection

forcing me to hold back

the three words I long to speak.

The ones I want you to hear,

but will you just turn a deaf ear?
