Inside Me.

Inside Me.

A Poem by Kathryn Desautels

You want to know what's inside of me?

There are polluted lungs in my chest that inhale more smoke than air.
Nostrils that put out more than they take in.
Coffee stained teeth that ache with every bite.
A stomach that can't handle bread & butter and
a not so small intestine yearning for a break.
An over-worked liver with commitment issues.
Kidneys that refuse to tidy their home.
A bladder that can't hold anything in.
Clogged arteries that remind me of the Guri Dam.
A brain that knows right from wrong, and
a heart that doesn't care.
