Out of the DarknessA Poem by Francis RosenfeldPoemAmazing Grace was given me in moments of dismay When friends were scarce and skies were gray and hope had gone astray. Grace scrubbed the slate of my soul clean and wiped away the tears And lit the darkness so the road got safe and smooth and clear. My heart was torn and pulled and strained and faltering from pain Grace caught it gently as it fell and brought it up again. We couldn't bear the weight of sin, the disappointing fares If we were not wrapped up in Grace to keep us from despair. The darkest pit is heaven found when love can reach you there If Grace can find you in the mire you're blessed everywhere. I'm not afraid, I'm not in doubt of God's eternal grace I wasn't, then He brought me forth, then I'll go home to rest.
