Outside love, what else is there?

Anger, violence, pain and hurt

Kill or be killed

Recriminations, frustrations, hate and war

There’s the water, the seas, the oceans, the deep

 

There’s beauty, the lilies, the mountains, the hills, the trees

Good health, good wine, good food and sin

There’s Jesus, there’s hope, there’s variety and joy

There’s Allah, there’s Buddha, isms and platitudes

But outside love, what else is there?

 

You have a time to be happy

But find some time to cry

Don’t hide under some bushel

Don’t let life pass you by

 

Peace don’t always mean suffering

To be strong, you’ve got to know weak

To you who ain’t had it easy

It is to you I speak

 

If you could have been a major contender

Outside love is impossibility

Even the offender knows love’s the seed of everything

Surely that even a serial liar could see.
